A bit on Mitra Malek

Mitra Malek is a wellness writer and editor, news journalist, and former senior editor and contributing editor for Yoga Journal. She has taught yoga since 2006.
A longtime news reporter, Mitra spent more than a decade on Florida's turquoise coastline as a staff writer for the Palm Beach Post and Sarasota Herald-Tribune. During those years, she covered a cancer-cluster investigation, election snafus, rampant real-estate growth, and poisoned polo ponies.
As a freelance news journalist, she has reported and written for the Chattanooga Times Free Press, The Tennessean, USA Today, and The Washington Post.
Of late, she focuses on writing and editing related to wellness, particularly yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and conscious living. She also conducts research for various clients.
In a past life, she worked in the investment world of Wall Street, and then was an acrobat and bank manager for Club Med at its sunny resorts in Mexico and The Bahamas.
Mitra is a graduate of Rutgers College at Rutgers University and holds a master's degree from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
